VAALA Launches Kickstarter Campaign For New Art Space

Established in 1991, VAALA (Vietnamese Arts & Letters Association) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) arts organization located in southern California. Ran entirely by volunteers, the organization provides free events like the Moon Festival, art exhibits like FOB I and II, and literary readings with major writers like Andrew Lam and Monique Truong. VAALA collaborates with Common Ground in order to serve as a space for monthly poetry readings and performances. It also provides free art and puppetry classes. VAALA works with institutions like UC Irvine, UCLA, and Bowers Museums to provide the community with entertaining, informative films through the biennial Vietnamese International Film Festival (ViFF). Every year thousands of people come and participate in its events.

In order for VAALA to continue serving the community, however, it needs your help! The organization recently opened a new gallery at 1600 North Broadway, Santa Ana to serve the needs of an exhibition space for the artists in the Vietnamese American community in Southern California.  Guests come to Little Saigon area may now explore the cultural and artistic aspect of the community beyond gourmet phở or gỏi cuốn.

VAALA’s $5000.00 campaign on kickstarter aims to raise funds for basic essentials like:
1) electrical work
2) paint
3) maintenance
